Take a listen to the new Washed Out album ‘Within and Without’ courtesy of The Guardian‘s stream (embedded below).
The album will be released by Domino Records next Monday (11th July) via the Weird World label and is produced by Ben Allen – who has previously worked with Animal Collective, Gnarls Barkley & Deerhunter.
Within and Without tracklist:
01. Eyes Be Closed
03. Amor Fati
05. Far Away
07. You And I
08. Within and Without
09. A Dedication
WEIRD003LP (first pressing available on white vinyl)
SP945 (USA, via Sub Pop Records)
Recorded with acclaimed producer Ben Allen (who has previously worked on great records such as Animal Collective’s ‘Merriweather Post Pavillion’, Gnarls Barkley’s ‘St. Elsewhere’ and ‘Halcyon Digest’ by Deerhunter) ‘Within And Without’ is a full realisation of the excitement Greene stoked with his first release, 2009’s ‘Life Of Leisure’ EP (Mexican Summer). That record saw Greene catapulted from his quiet, reclusive life in rural Georgia to blog darling status almost over night – scoring highly in many end of year polls and inspiring innumerable imitators in thrall to the organic way in which it immersed its big-hearted, anthemic pop songs in a deeply psychedelic, genre-defying dance energy.
Bonus track:- check out this Grimes remix of ‘Eyes Be Closed’ – the first single to be released from the album. The 12" vinyl for the single will also feature a remixes by Lovelock and Manchester-based producer Star Slinger (who I think will be joining Washed Out on the UK tour mentioned below).
