I’m afraid my photos from tonight aren’t that great. The Ruby Lounge is one of the toughest places to shoot in Manchester – the red lights make it really hard unless you use a flash. I didn’t want to do that tonight – although I got lucky on a couple of photos and caught someone else’s light :) I was also in the same position for the whole gig so not a lot of variety in the images. I was more interested in trying to capture some video so hopefully they will look decent (haven’t had time to check yet!)

Bit disappointed that I used my ZOOM H4N microphone to record the audio off the soundboard (with the band’s permission) but it came out all distorted :( I did however manage to film most of the show on my little Lumix TZ7 camera, so hopefully I can put some of that on YouTube next week.

Tonight I finally got to see the enigmatic Wu Lyf play live – at a secret show inside the beautiful St Peters Church in Ancoats, Manchester. I’d stupidly missed several opportunities to see Wu Lyf at the start of the year during their monthly residency at An Outlet on Dale Street. Since then the band have signed to Warner Brothers (apparently not true), the hype has exploded and the low-key gigs have been short on the ground. Tonight’s show was announced via Facebook and Twitter (and seemingly split the Manchester music crowd on Twitter). Really impressed with the venue — can’t wait to see more shows there.
